Media's War Images Delude Instead of Inform

"On the third day of 2006, when the man in the iconic photo returned to the CBS airwaves on "The Early Show," this time the mood was more somber. "Blake Miller made it home from the war," co-host Harry Smith reported. "But like many of his comrades, he wasn't able to completely put it behind him. While on duty during the Hurricane Katrina relief effort, Blake suffered from symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder and was granted an honorable discharge from the Marines."

~Note honorably discharged Lance Cpl. Miller was given the opportunity on network tv to talk about his less-than-iconic post-combat military experiences. I don't think pre-cable tv would have had the time. Are we as a society more understanding of the effects of war on our people or is it the proliferation of tv channels that make the airing of stories like his possible...acceptable?

Apropos of what exactly? Google Image and News search has no recent photos of James Blake Miller. Dated Nov. 2004 there's this sans cigarette photo via CBS News.
As of today Google News links to a half-dozen stories concerning Blake Miller's recent history.
