Overheard at Starbucks

"It's so easy to break things."

---"Oh yeah mass production ain't what it use to be."

"I mean I could smash this cup, reduce this table and these chairs to splinters but no way could I make anything like them."

---"The community-college has carpentry and pottery classes."

"It would take me months to learn how to make cups, chairs and tables."

---"It would take YOU years."

"Outside of my photographs and a few paintings and prints, I don't own anything that's one-of-a-kind. That I made or that's unique. I'm surrounded by copies of things that I could never create."

---"Be grateful entrepreneurs and capitalists created opportunities for you to earn money to buy all the things you can't produce."

"I'm a lucky guy?"

---"If you're looking for uniqueness there's your rock collection...and your family...and your pets and plants...and me and you."

"I'm a real piece-of-work?"

---"Macaroni pasted on a paper-plate."
