Instead of thinking about having an actual BART ticket, you'll soon be able to take your cell phone and hold it up to a sensor. It will serve as your ticket.
...you'll be able to buy the cell phone with the technology in it by the end of next year.
You'll pay the cell phone company for the convenience...
It will save BART money. They think using the technology will save them as much as $750,000.
People in Europe and Hong Kong are already able to use their cell phones to buy many services.

~Riders using this technology will be saving BART money while paying extra? (BART is funded by bond issues and ticket sales not taxes?) No mention is made of how much extra BART thinks they can change their customers conveniently enjoying the cutting edge of spending technology. In the future a cell phone will be as good as a credit card or money in the pocket!
